Sorry, I messed up the alignment of the site

The only way I can see to fix it is to add another post, so here's a picture of the kids. Somehow this did not make the cut as the final Christmas picture:)

Corn Palace Xtreme Cheer

Here are some pictures from Saturday's cheer competition at the lovely Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD (note the corn designs behind the girls). Taylor's team "Pink Passion" won 2nd place in their division of 5 teams - not too shabby for their first competion of the season.

Taylor turns eleven!

Happy Birthday Taylor! I put together this with some of the best Sarah captured Taylor moments! I love you! I can't believe you are eleven... I remember the night you were born and you were so little, you sounded like a piglet. Stop getting old because it just means I am getting older!

Happy 11th Birthday Taylor!

I just wanted to get the first Happy Birthday in! I love you and hope you have a great day today. I wish I was able to be in Brookings today! We're going to have to have a big shindig this weekend!

Sarah's family portrait age 7

I was going through old papers and found this old picture I drew of my family when I was 7. I think I made Nathan bigger than myself and Amy, but I think dad and mom were pretty right on.

Trees, trees, and more trees!

The Hurd family is well aware of the holidays approaching. In the past couple of years dad has gotten quite fond of putting out what is now a forest of trees. They aren't all plugged in yet, but they are making it already feel like Christmas. Since dad has been having trouble with his back we thought we would help him get a jump start on it. Next year we will try to have it up at Halloween (ha)! If you have never had the pleasure of going past the house around Christmas time feel free to enjoy the movie I made of last year. I wonder what the final count will be for this year?

Random Fall/Halloween pics from the Liebing's

Here is Grandpa trying to spook Samantha with candy eyeballs on Halloween night.

Here is another picture from the leaf adventures Sarah has already posted pictures of. Just wanted to share it because Samantha looks like she's having so much fun raking!

Here are Taylor & Samantha at the Larson Manufacturing "Autum Festival". Taylor is wearing the poodle skirt outfit Grandma Lisa made for me when I was in middle school. Samantha is a cheerleader and a pretty cute one! Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!

More pictures from the pumpkin patch

I took some videos that day and figured out how to take a picture out of them. I got a couple of cute pictures out of them and wanted to share them. The quality is a little less than actual pictures, but I found a new tool to use- yay!

Fun in the Fall

Here are some of the cute pictures I got while out with the girls (Taylor and Samantha, and mom). We went to the pumpkin patch and then to McCrory Gardens for some pictures. It was on October 6th one day before Samantha's fourth birthday.

I like this one because mom is trying to get Samantha's hair out of her face, it was really windy. Taylor was serious on finding a good pumpkin in the background.

William Tell Overture-The Mom Version

Here is a cute little video that Nathan found and sent to us recently. Lots of good 'mom' wisdom.

Sesame Street adventures

On Sunday September 2, 2007 Amy, Taylor, Samantha and Sarah went to the Sioux Falls Arena to see Elmo and his Sesame Street friends. It was a lot of fun and Sarah took a lot of videos of us enjoying the program. Samantha even got touched by Telle. It was a lot of fun, hopefully I will get some of the videos up soon.

Our crazy week

We did something this last weekend that we have been putting off for many years. No, it wasn't sending out a Christmas letter- we get to wait until December for that. We had a garage sale at Mom and Dad's (or Lisa and Bob's for the rest of you). We got rid of a ton of stuff which was more important than actually making money, although we did pretty well there too. We didn't take any pictures of the sale, but there are some pictures of the sleepover at Sarah's with the girls.

We went to the new spray park near Sarah's apartment

Sad news to share

Sad news, our grandmother Maxine Lingscheit passed away on May 22nd, 2007. I complied some photos to share with everybody. She was a wonderful lady and we are so happy that she is at peace now. I plan on making a more inclusive memory video of pictures from the 85 years that she was on this earth. If anyone has any pictures they would like to share please e-mail them to Sarah at hurd_sarah@hotmail.com

Taylor's Wild Weekends

Taylor has been having fun the past 2 weekends. Last Friday she had tickets (compliments of the Easter Bunny) for Tonic Sol-Fa here in Brookings. They were performing at a Habitat for Humanity fundraiser - that E.B. is such a philanthropist!! Taylor very kindly offered one of her tickets to her mother and we had a blast, even though they didn't sing "Where in World is Carmen SanDiego?" - sigh!!! After the concert we had a chance to get the band to autograph a CD and Mom asked the band if she could take a picture of Taylor with all of them. Here is the picture - we think the blond one looks like Zac from "Gilmore Girls".

Today Taylor and her cheer team competed in the pared-down, much-delayed state tournament in Huron. They got 1st place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOORAY! Go Platinum Power!! Mom and Samantha couldn't be there as Sam is suffering from the same illness Mom had last weekend during and after the concert. Even though we didn't get to see it in person, we are all very proud of Taylor - she's put in a LOT of practice this year.

Making a little ruckus

Here's a little revised post of Nathan's post- it should be workable now. He is pretty excited to share his scooter!

March memories 2007

Here is a really quick video I made of pictures and videos I did of the Hurd family in the last month. It is crazy to think that so many things happened in a month. We celebrated two birthdays, St. Patrick's Day, endured a long blizzard, and got ready for Easter celebration. I love the song too! I hope that everyone had a great March- Happy Easter!

2007 Hurd Winter Games

The Hurd family enjoyed themselves outside on Sunday, March 4th. Taylor and Sarah went to Larson Hill for sledding and enjoyed the massive amounts of snow. When they came back Samantha had just enough time to go out and enjoy a tamer hill at grandma and grandpa's house. She didn't enjoy the ride too much, but she loved just sitting in the snow. We have mixed feelings about the warmer weather because it was really fun to go out and enjoy winter activities.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Dad/Bob is going to be celebrating his 59th birthday tomorrow! Too bad he'll be snowed in for at least most of the day. We have been getting some really cruddy weather here in eastern South Dakota. Mom was going to spend the night on Tuesday for an appointment at 3 the next afternoon, dad called and suggested she come home then or else she would be stuck with me for the rest of the week. It was a good thing she did because the weather got really nasty on Wednesday. Pretty much all the school districts were closed on Thursday and Friday, but of course my work was open for business! On Friday we had 36 staff show up for work to care for a whopping 32 children! I got a lot of organizing and cleaning done!

I'm going to venture out and take some pictures tomorrow- maybe I'll get something interesting to share! Till then you'll have to just enjoy some vintage Bob Hurd pictures. The one where he is hugging the stuffed animal is one of my favorite, because it was taken at an Optimist meeting and I just wonder what he was doing! Happy Birthday Dad!
